The Kingdom of Bahrain has implemented most of the recommendations featuring in the final report of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), established by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to inquire into the regretful events of February and March, 2011, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ghanim bin Fadhl Al Buainain, adding that HM the King issued a Royal Decree amending the Constitution, in line with the visions of the National Consensus Dialogue.
He also praised the distinguished and advanced position enjoyed by the kingdom regarding human development, interest in human rights affairs and social cohesion, as shown in the reports published by the UN and other international organisations.
Al Buainain was speaking as he attended the 4th ministerial meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which kick-off under the patronage of the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The State Minister hailed the launch of CICA, which he described as a wise initiative aiming to enhance political and economic cooperation between Asian countries, praising the achievements attained under its umbrella and the key role played by the Kazakh President in this regard.
He also commended the sincere efforts exerted over the past years to launch the initiative and ensure its success in order to consolidate the concepts of dialogue, interaction, consultation and joint action in Asia and put in place mechanisms of cooperation and collective work among its countries so as to be able to resolve pending issues through peaceful means and mobilise support for the continent’s just causes, especially that of the Palestinians who deserve to be granted the right to establish an Independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital..
He also called upon the International Community to exert more efforts in order stop bloodshed and help the Syrian people obtain freedom, affirming the right of the Rohingyas people to live safely in its Myanmar.
He also expressed hope that the meeting would come up with recommendations to activate joint dialogue, as the best means to promote stability and peace across Asia and meet its peoples’ expectations.
“Ways of consolidating peace and stability in Asia, strengthening relationships between Asian countries and activating joint dialogue topped the agenda of the conference aiming to enhance constructive regional and global cooperation in promoting peace, tolerance and mutual respect and combating terrorism,” he added.
