The Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa directed to embody the high royal order to hold an annual distinguished ceremony in honour of those who had sporting achievements in all different sports.
Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad directed to develop a final outline of the ceremony which would contribute in motivating the athletes to exert more efforts to accomplish achievements that honour Bahrain in all various sports events.
Shaikh Nasser also directed to establish sports schools in all governorates of the Kingdom that aim to maintain balance between the academic side of the Bahraini student and in the same time allow them to practice sports activities. Through this approach, the student and the family would gain great achievements. The officials in charge of the sports and youth system would have the opportunity to discover the talented and athletic abilities. This would also contribute in creating outstanding academic sports athletes who were capable to serve the Bahraini community.
This came during the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports for the year 2012, which was held day before yesterday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council at Seef District, and chaired by Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in presence of the members.
Shaikh Nasser stressed the need to allocate a great interest for the Bahraini Youth in the future plans and programmes of the Council. He also called to create programmes that provide attention to the entertainment side, pointing out that they would contribute a lot in allowing the youth to direct their capabilities for their self-satisfaction. He also pointed out that the youth would be able to participate in organizing the 21st Gulf Football Cup.
Shaikh Nasser was briefed with a detailed explanation about the last preparations of Bahrain to host the 21st Football Gulf Cup, where the Secretary General of the Council, the Head of the Executive Committee, Shaikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa presented an official report about the last preparations including the achievements of the working committees of the tournament till the moment.
The Secretary General concluded his report stressing that the Olympic Committee presented its initiative of focusing not only on the sports dimension, but also would include other dimension like the economic, educational, health, social, environmental, cultural, and investment.
