The UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) advisory committee unanimously elected Bahraini Said Al-Faihani unopposed as the Asian group representative yesterday.
His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa expressed his appreciation and support to the nomination as it represents the international community’s confidence in Bahrain’s progress in the human rights field. This is further reinforced by the recent acceptance of Bahrain’s response to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) with no objections earlier this month.
The UNHRC Advisory Committee consists of 18 experts and functions as a think-tank for the Council. Their studies and research-based advice complies with UN resolutions and under its guidance.
