Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ghanim Bin Fadhl Al Buainain stressed that what was happening in Bahrain was not related to the events of the Arab Spring, highlighting that what was happening perhaps was the outcomes of external influences, which caused the fueling of the situation.
Al Buainain reinforced, in an interview with channel Russia Today, the Arab Spring revolutions and their impact were on security issues in general, whereas Bahrain supported the freedoms of expression, assembly, demonstration and the establishment of political associations.
He stressed that all those issues existed in their local laws whether they were oppositions or non-oppositions societies.
Al Buainain also said that the political societies received support from the Bahraini Government, and that particular issue distinguished Bahrain than many other countries in the region, either on the regional level, or on the world level.
Al Buainain said that Bahrain was not like the Arab Spring countries whose people suffered first from oppression, didn’t express their opinions, and didn’t enjoy social justice, where many of those countries were suffering poverty and some below the poverty line. He stressed that all those issues did not exist in Bahrain, highlighting that the reports of the United Nations organizations concerning human development proved that.
Al Buainain pointed out in that context, the reports issued in that concern from the United Nations Organizations stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain was leading in the issues related to providing keenness for the human element. He added that what was currently happening in Bahrain might be of external influences that fueled the situation.
He highlighted that there were contacts with all societies, whether opposition or non-opposition with the Minister of Justice in Bahrain in order to reach some kind of understandings, and transfer that to the elected and assigned legislative authority.
In his speech, the Minister said that His Majesty the King gave directions, in unprecedented case in the whole world, of forming the Independent Commission of Fact-Finding chaired by the known-Professor Basiouni, pointing out that the Commission maintained in communications with all parties and issued a report.
He said that the government of Bahrain had implemented most of the recommendations of Basiouni’s Commission, and it had been implementing the other recommendations since then.
The minister said that there was no comparison between the situation in Syria and in Bahrain, stressing that the comparison was not in the case of oppositions, but how the regime dealt with that opposition. He pointed out that Bahrain used the maximum levels of self-control, and therefore a lot of security men were injured in the clashes.
