Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa patronized the launch of a book on Bahrain’s urban planning history.
Ministers, engineers and architectural specialists also attended the event at the Shaikh Isa Cultural Centre.
Authored by engineer Mohammed Nour Al-Nabi, the book traces the use of land and urban development since 1968, with the establishment – that same year of the Planning Coordination Board and the Natural Planning Unit at the municipality, in addition to the Housing Ministry which was officially set up in 1975.
Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa praised the content of the book which documents a crucial period of Bahrain’s history, crediting the author to trace urban development strides in the Kingdom.
The author also thanked Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa for patronizing the book launch ceremony.
