Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa urged governors to protect social and security situation in their respective governorates.
Chairing a meeting with governors, he urged them to step up cooperation with the police Director-General in their area regarding security.
Addressing the session, he described security as a joint responsibility engaging the governor and police to protect people’s safety.
The meeting was attended by Governors Jaafar Hassan bin Rajab (Northern Governorate), Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al-Khalifa (Southern Governorate), Mubarak bin Ahmed Al-Fadhel (Central Governorate), Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al-Khalifa (Capital Governorate) and Muharraq Deputy Governor Sultan Al-Sulaiti.
Shaikh Rashid hailed the Governors’ efforts to upgrade services, stressing the necessity for governorates to play their role in promoting development and addressing the respective needs in cooperation with concerned ministries and government departments.
He thanked ministries for cooperation with governorates through the coordination councils as well as their efforts to streamline procedures for citizens.
The minister urged the governors to take necessary measures to set up a Hussainiya procession authority in each governorate and coordinate in this regard with to ease traffic and regulate the movement of participants marking religious events.
Shaikh Rashid hailed the implementation of the “Entrusted Guard” programme to promote coordination between governorates and people, thus anchoring the concept of partnership towards address community issues. Governorates’ General Coordinator Brigadier Hassan Isa Al-Sameem attended the meeting.
