HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, emphasized that the global population is exerting great efforts in order to contribute into urban transformation and to provide components of life sufficiently to cope with increasingly growing populations.
HRH the Prime Minister in his remarks at the 6th International Urban Forum being held in Napoli, Italy said that to pursue the road which leads to sustainable development is less costly than plying the dark tunnel of conflicts in view of catastrophic consequences on peoples’ lives.
The Prime Minister’s message has been widely circulated at the forum and translated into English, French, Italian and Arabic language.
HRH the Prime minister urged the international community to learn from past history and to focus on complete compliance with partnership for the sake of issues of sustainable urban development commensurate with international treaties and conventions through a common vision supported by material resources, potentials and expertise which enable laying down solid foundations for the construction of a sustainable community to ensure better life for mankind at present and in the future.
HRH the Prime Minister emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s governmental and developmental plans has given top attention to sustainable urban development and that this led to a comprehensive renaissance in the Kingdom in line with the visions of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, citing Bahrain’s strides already accomplished in terms of transformation in various fields of development.
HRH the Prime Minister revealed that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation comprises the relevant government ministries and bodies that reflect Bahrain government’s attention and support to international effort in coping with issues of urban development and commitment to benefitting from international experiences and expertise in this vital area.
HRH the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Italian government for hosting this important international conference. The Kingdom of Bahrain has participated in the inaugural session of the Sixth International Forum for Urban Development. Bahrain’s delegation included Minister of Municipalities and Urban Planning, Dr. Jum’a Al-Ka’bi, the chief of the Premier’s court, Shaikh Hussam bin Isa Al Khalifa, the general director of Muharraq Municipality, Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa and a number of government, ministerial and SCW’s officials.
During the conference various speeches were delivered which asserted the importance of solving obstacles facing development through contribution from countries, universities and research centers with focus on the rights of the community in development and culture.
