Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa held a meeting with the Supreme Tourism Council (STC) members and discussed a clear strategy to launch a promotional campaign next year, in line with festivities marking Bahrain Capital of Arab Tourism2013.
The minister outlined the functions marking the World Tourism Day, which falls on Sept 27. The global event will be celebrated at Bab Al-Bahrain.
The meeting discussed progress of work to revamp the iconic Bab Al-Bahrain and launch a string of tourism programmes.
It also discussed unifying roadside ads as part of festivities marking the National Day.
The Cabinet has already tasked the Ministry of Culture to decorate streets in coordination with other concerned parties.
Bahrain five-star hotels committee chairman Abdul Nabi Al-Daylami suggested engaging the private sector in the development effort through hotels, travel and tourism companies and other parties working in the sector to upgrade tourism infrastructure and services.
