Royal University for Women at its campus hosted Farah Pandith, the United States Department Special Representative to the Muslim Communities, where she conducted a presentation titled “Muslim Women in the USA”.
Pandith, who is responsible for executing United States Secretary Hilary Clinton’s vision for engagement with Muslims around the world on people-to-people level, also has extensive experience and expertise in the region.
“The Muslim experience in America does prove that Muslims who live their religion can be unqualified democratic Americans”, Pandith described the notion that America is at war with Islam as a “myth,” Pandith, said.
Dr Hala Ilias, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Financial Sciences of Royal University for Women, said that these lectures are interesting and important to the student. Their questions and conversations with the speaker show academic maturity and analysis.
Pandith is on a Middle East with Bahrain being her first stop. She has always had a keen interest in international affairs and is a member of several boards, including the World Affairs Council of Boston and the Council for Emerging National Security Affairs.
