His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa described security and stability as the basis of growth and development.
Speaking at a meeting with British Ambassador to Bahrain Iain Lindsay, HRH stressed the importance of maintaining security and stability by enforcing the law.
“Democratic Practice in Bahrain has to be protected from abuse and encroachment on other people’s liberties to ensure a healthy democratic practice based on transparency, preservation of reforms, promotion of achievements and respect of human rights,” he said.
He also hailed Bahraini-British cooperation in various fields and the UK’s support to Bahrain’s efforts to speed up the development momentum by exchanging expertise and boosting bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
HRH the Prime Minister emphasized that reform in Bahrain is going on steadily and with confident steps and that evaluation of the development march will continue to protect it from any hindrances that might impede progress towards forecast goals.
HRH voiced Bahrain’s keen interest to benefit from the British expertise while giving the private sector in both countries a more pivotal role.
He reviewed with the British ambassador strong, historic and friendly bilateral relations as well as growing cooperation between both countries, citing the recent successful visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the UK.
The British ambassador hailed practical steps taken by his country to support Bahrain, lauding co-existence and respect of freedoms in Bahrain.
