Bahrain hailed the positive results of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) Conference in Canada.
The Kingdom’s parliamentary delegation lauded the key decisions taken over the last six days as part of the IPU 137th session.
Led by Shura Council first deputy President Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, the delegation stressed the importance of the outcome which affirmed the pivotal role of the vested constitutional institutions in promoting democratic reforms. Fakhro underscored the instrumental role of parliaments as mirrors reflecting people’s opinions and tools to achieve their aspirations.
He also pointed out the necessity to promoted inter-parliamentary relations to bridge the gap and advocate sustained civic peace and security.
The delegation stressed the importance of the foundations laid by the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) as a cornerstone to achieve peace and security, improve peoples’ standard of living, reduce social discrepancies and promote human rights.
Headed by Fakhro, the delegation also includes Shura Council members Dr. Aisha Al-Mubarki and Jameela Salman, MPs Dr. Ali Ahmed, Sawsan Takawi and Isa Al-Kooheji.
They all hailed the solidarity expressed by parliamentary delegations in support of the reform steps undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to emerge from last year’s crisis.
They also paid tribute to the delegations for condemning any external interference and foreign crisis-mongering designs in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The delegation also voiced support for key decision on implementing the IPU 2012-2017 strategy, welcoming the booklet on banning nuclear proliferation and disarmament.
