State Minister for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza, who made a presentation on energy issues, highlighted the importance of Bahrain’s aspirations for moving towards renewable and clean energy.
He was speaking in a seminar organised by the Japanese embassy in Bahrain on exploiting renewable energies, boosting power efficiency and availing of the Japanese expertise.
The function was held on the sidelines of a visit by a delegation from Japan Cooperation Centre for the Middle East.
Dr. Mirza said cooperation between Bahrain and Japan is in line with the agreements concluded during HM the King’s visit to Japan.
He highlighted Bahrain’s aspirations, included in the Economic Vision 2030, to benefit from renewable energy to produce electricity, reduce reliance on gas fuel and minimize CO2 emissions.
He said using renewable energy helps diversify power sources and ensure power-generation security in the long run.
He also hailed the government’s efforts, in cooperation with the UN, to set up a unified centre for renewable energy.
He stressed the electricity and water sector will spare no effort to benefit from the Japanese specialized companies in this respect.
