IAA President Shaikh Fawaz Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa stressed Bahrain’s commitment and with a support from the wise leadership, to promote integration projects and coordination between the Gulf media, facilitates the exchange of news, information, technical expertise, and human resources, and production of radio and television programmes.
Shaikh Fawaz highlighted that those projects would contribute in the activation of the joint media action strategy for the years 2010 – 2020 adopted by Their Majesties and Royal Highnesses the leaders of the GCC Countries in Abu Dhabi Summit.
During his chairmanship of Bahrain’s delegation in the Twentieth Meeting, Shaikh Fawaz stressed that the activation of the Gulf joint media action was a necessity to support the internal and foreign policies of GCC States, preserve their security and stability, highlight their cultural and civilized identity, and human and religious values. It would also point out their achievements locally and internationally in addressing the distortion campaign and misinformation.
Shaikh Fawaz also praised the honorable Gulf stances along with Bahrain’s security and stability, and supporting its reform and development march, considering that the media Gulf integration in addressing all challenges formed an example of the historical, friendly and brotherly relations between all other Gulf States and peoples, and reflected the true determination towards the Gulf Union.
The GCC states condemned the deliberate Iranian interference, and stressed their right to take all the required legal measures in this regard.
Meanwhile, the U.S. governmental broadcasting authority accused Tehran last week in a report of trying to disrupt the television and radio programmes broadcast in the Gulf States and the rest of the Middle East.
GCC Ministers of Information welcomed the proposal of Bahrain’s IAA to send a cable thanking the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in recognition of his initiatives and strenuous efforts to improve the GCC joint action system, and his decent support for the establishment of a permanent headquarters for Gulf Radio and Television, wishing Saudi Arabia all success, progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.
Shaikh Fawaz also valued the approval of the GCC ministers of information to organize the First Gulf Media Forum in 2013 in Kingdom of Bahrain, as being considered the headquarters of the GCC presidency, in a step to serve the Gulf joint media action, and reinforce the cooperation between the Gulf media agencies, and strengthen ties between workers in the field of press and media.
Shaikh Fawaz highlighted the approval of the GCC Ministers of Information on a number of projects and recommendations presented by Bahrain News Agency (BNA), namely: launching a unified Gulf Account for the GCC states’ Channel on “YouTube”. He also pointed out that there would also be a channel for Gulf live broadcasting to cover the important events, publish them on the Gulf News Agencies, and link them with the social communication networks.
They would also benefit from the technologies the Agency provides through the video visual service that would contribute in the activation of the periodical meetings and the joint coordination in a faster way.
Shaikh Fawaz said that those proposals would ensure more media coverage for the events and media activities, particularly coinciding with Manama soon hosts the events of the Gulf Summit next December.
GCC Ministers of information praised in their meeting the success accomplished by the Twelfth Gulf Festival for Radio and Television, thanks to the support and good organization by the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented in the IAA in collaboration with Gulf Radio and Television, and the provision of all means and capabilities to introduce such an outstanding creative level.
At the end of the meeting, IAA President, Shaikh Fawaz welcomed the Gulf Ministers of Information in their next meeting in the Kingdom of Bahrain, wishing them all progress and development for the media action, and the activation of the Gulf media joint action strategy in line with the aspirations of Their Majesties and Royal Highnesses, leaders of the Gulf states towards Gulf Union.
Shaikh Fawaz also commended the efforts of the Saudi Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Mohiee Al Deen and the GCC General Secretariat, which contributed in the success of the Gulf Media Meeting.
