Leading manufacturer of mass transport vehicles MAN Truck & Bus brought their dealers of the Middle East and North Africa region to the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) Commercial Vehicles trade show in Hanover, Germany, highlighting its innovative approach to serving the regional market.
MAN Truck & Bus introduced the latest range of heavy-duty truck, MAN and Neoplan bus products and business solutions to general managers and business owners of exclusive MAN distributors in the MENA region.
“MAN had a very good year in Bahrain and we were able to increase our market share even over the regional level. MAN continues to steer the market when it comes to safety, reliability, comfort, environmental friendliness, economical operation and superior payload delivery. The discussions held during IAA prove that MAN continues to invest in ways in which it can better serve the MENA market,” Simon Keen, General Manager at AMA Motors, the exclusive MAN distributor in Bahrain, said.
“This year we have seen a booming Saudi Arabia, a buoyant Oman, United Arab Emirates on a slight upturn, Iraq with pockets of economic activity and both Jordan and Bahrain with positive vehicle demand. All of this consolidates in a sub-regional demand which is 15% up year-on-year and MAN revenue which is up around 20%,” David van Graan Head of MAN Center Middle East and Vice President Sales and Marketing said.
“We have grown our market share in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Bahrain, and the recent uptake of forward production slots from the UAE and Oman will also translate into delivered market share before year end. In numbers, MAN Truck and Bus will deliver around 5000 trucks into an active market segment of around 15000 units.”
“The construction sector continues to be a very important component of our target market. We offer a wide range of medium (TGM) and heavy duty (TGS) trucks as the base of a variety of transport solutions from tippers to transit mixers, from water tankers to concrete pumps, from flat deck cranes to specialised drill rigs – in wheel drive configurations of 4×2, 4×4, 6×2, 6×4, 6×6, 8×4 and 8×8. However, it is worthwhile to note that MAN has also become a leading supplier of rolling stock to various other industries such as refrigerated goods, long haul truck tractors, gravity-feed auger bulkers, specialised tankers and many more transport solutions,” Van Graan, said.
