The Works Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf received at his office President of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Richard Coakley, accompanied by Area Manager of the Middle East, Africa and the Americas Brian da Cal, Membership Director David Lewidrog, and ICE’s Representative Ismail Khonji, together with members from the Institution’s Committee in Bahrain.
The Minister lauded the role played by the Institution of Civil Engineers in the field of civil engineering, reiterating the importance of maintaining communication between the Ministry’s engineers and members of the Institution to exchange expertise and researches in the field, taking into consideration the prominent role played by the Institution since its foundation in Bahrain 17 years ago.
Coakley commended the efforts extended by the Ministry of Works in the field of infrastructure, indicating that the Institution of Civil Engineers is one of the oldest and most specialized in engineering; including more than 80,000 members from all over the world.
In addition to the visit the Works Minister, the ICE’s programme also includes a field visit to the North Manama Causeway Project, implemented by the Ministry, a meeting with the British Ambassador, an open meeting with University of Bahrain’s engineering students and finally a meeting with members from the Bahrain Society of Engineers.
