The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) concluded the Consultative Meeting on the National Strategy for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2013-2022), themed: “Role of Allies and Partners,” held at the Sheraton Hotel under the auspices of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and SCW President, on Wednesday and Thursday.
Secretary-General of the SCW Hala Al Ansari delivered a statement in which she expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the participants at the Consultative Meeting, praising the work groups’ honourable expertise embraced by Bahrain to enrich the plans and indices to measure the outcomes of the National Strategy seeking to achieve better results through an equal partnership to build a sustainable competitive society.
She also affirmed that all proposals and points of view will be taken into account when preparing the second draft of the National Strategy for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, commending the efforts of the team leaders and their assistants to ensure the success of the meeting.
During Thursday’s sessions, the work teams, including representatives from ministries, state departments, the private sector, relevant NGOs, academic expertise, international agencies and youth, continued their discussions on ways of ensuring sustainability of the Bahraini women’s “Advancement” during the coming period, with the participation of Arab and international experts in order to promote the Bahraini model or experience in the field of women development.
At the end, a short film on the National Strategy was shown, and then Dr. Shaikha Mariam bin Hassan Al Khalifa honoured participants.
Al Ansari announced, during the inaugural session of the Consultative Meeting, the SCW’s new vision themed: “Equal Partnership for Building a Sustainable Competitive Society”, as well as its mission aiming to empower Bahraini women and incorporate their needs in development programmes, as the best way to ensure their family stability and cohesion, consolidate the concept of equal opportunities in order to ensure Bahraini women’s competitiveness and life-long learning, provide them with multiple options to upgrade their living standards within supportive laws and policies, enhance complementarities with allies and partners in institutional work in order to improve women’s conditions and build a world-level women think tank specialised in women’s affairs.
