Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa patronized the opening of the 6th Ship for World Youth Global Assembly (WYGA).
The General Organisation for youth and Sport (GOYS) is hosting the global event at the iconic Arad Fort.
The ceremony was also attended by SCYS first deputy chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, leading figures, members of the diplomatic corps, Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi, representative of the Japanese Government Toshio Kozumo, members of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, Bahrain Olympic Committee and several youth associations.
Shaikh Nasser addressed the ceremony announcing the launch of the 6th Ship for World Youth Global Assembly.
He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, lauding his royal directives to promote Bahraini youth, develop their skills and enable them to build bridges of friendship with their peers all over the world.
He expressed Bahrain’s pride at hosting the 6th Ship for World Youth Global Assembly, extending thanks and appreciation to the Japanese Government for entrusting Bahrain to host the event.
He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness on participating in the global event, describing the assembly as a unique opportunity that brings youth from all over the world together and fosters the values of cooperation, understanding, intercultural dialogue and tolerance between people.
In this regard, he cited the recommendations of the Arab Youth Conference, which was held in Bahrain last month under the slogan “Arab Identity…Global Culture”.
Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi addressed the opening ceremony, paying tribute to HM the King, the Government and people of Bahrain for hosting the 6th Ship for World Youth Global Assembly, hailing strong bilateral relations. He also thanked Shaikh Nasser for patronizing the opening ceremony.
The representative of the Japanese Government Toshio Kozumo also hailed Bahrain for hosting the global assembly, which brings together 110 youngsters representing over 20 countries.
The ceremony also featured a documentary film celebrating successive civilizations in Bahrain.
Bahrain and the Japanese officials then exchanged gifts.
GOYS Chief Hisham Al-Jowder also presented Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa with gifts.
