The US Ambassador to Yemen, Gerald M. Feierstein and a delegation of senior business leaders met in Houston to discuss the country’s economic outlook, and opportunities for renewable energy, healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. The event was organized by the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Business Council for International Understanding, and held at the law offices of Bracewell & Giuliani.
“We are committed to supporting Yemen’s private sector,” said Aida Araissi, president of the Bilateral Chamber. “Through events like this, we see the possibility of a new, stronger Yemen economy led by dynamic business leaders like those represented today.”
Ambassador Feierstein highlighted the importance of foreign investments and assistance in developing Yemen’s recovering economy.
“With continued support from the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Yemen has great potential as a force for growth in the region.”
He highlighted several bilateral programs including a historic business mission to Yemen last June led by David L Phillips, chairman of the Bilateral Chamber. That mission featured meetings with the President, Prime Minister, Ministers of Energy, Education, and Labour of Yemen’s newly elected government. These programs have resulted in multiple contracts between chamber members and Yemen’s public and private sectors.
