His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa called upon international organisations and agencies to seek information and real facts from authorized and reliable sources, given their importance in shaping world public opinion, especially in a vital region such as the Middle East, stressing that exchanging visits in order to be informed about the reality is the best way to achieve that.
HRH Premier also pointed out that the region’s geographical, political and economic importance requires keeping it away from conflicts and instability, noting that the United Nations can play a major role in protecting it from tensions and strife.
This came as HRH Premier received at his court this morning the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General Terje Roed Larsen who conveyed to him greetings from the UN Chief Ban Ki-moon.
During the meeting, HRH Premier reiterated the government’s constant desire to strengthen its cooperation with the UN and its agencies in order to consolidate development across the world, commending UN’s efforts to promote global security and peace and enhance development and environment programmes.
The Prime Minister also said that the kingdom is looking forward to continuing its cooperation with the UN and reviewed with Larson the latest regional developments, as well as issues of mutual concern, stressing that the region is in dire need for security and stability, as security and development are indivisible.
Terje Roed Larsen asserted that reality in Bahrain is totally different from the distorted image that some sides are trying to disseminate.
