His Royal Highness Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, has asserted that public and individual liberties in Bahrain are not infringed upon, but no one expects the government to keep silent when freedoms are used as a pretext to harm and compromise the Kingdom’s national security through sabotage and terrorism, adding that the government is required to protect the homeland and ensure a better future for its people.
“The Kingdom enjoys an environment of openness, democracy and popular participation in the decision-making process through effective constitutional institutions and, therefore, we are all required to make sure that such positive atmosphere is not abused to serve foreign agendas or undermine national security and stability,” HRH Premier said, as he received at his court the Board of Directors of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Bahrain, led by its Chairman Sami Kamel, stressing that those who use their freedom as a tool to destroy their nations do, in fact, violate their compatriots’ freedom.
HRH Premier pointed out that protection of peoples enjoys top priority among the leadership of every country, calling upon the Bahraini citizens to be more aware, responsible and cohesive in order to pave the way for more development and progress.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain has, throughout its history, been threatened and exposed to various dangers, but the unity of its people, and not any other factor, has always been a protective shield against those threats,” he added.
HRH Prime Minister highlighted the pivotal role played by correspondents of foreign media outlets and news agencies to project the real and positive image of Bahrain, calling upon the media sector to consolidate national unity and not sow division among members of the one-family Bahraini society.
The Premier affirmed that the media has become the most dangerous weapon and explained that those who wanted to harm the kingdom used it to falsify reality and mislead the public opinion through disseminating distorted information about its legal, political, economic and social situation, noting that the world has become fully aware of those distortive campaigns.
HRH Prime Minister also warned of the conspiracy against the Arab Nation, calling upon leaders to join hands and coordinate stances in order to confront the increasing interference in their countries’ internal affairs under various pretexts.
Foreign Correspondents’ Club’s Board Chairman and members expressed pride in meeting with HRH Premier, praising his constant support for media outlets and directives to ministries and state departments to cooperate with them positively.
