Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa attended the 81st Interpol General Assembly in Rome at the invitation of the Interpol chief, bringing together 104 interior ministers from around the world.
The session showcased the experiences of several countries in addressing new scourges relating to human trafficking, threats to immigrants, urban and youth violence, extremism, religiously-motivated violence, organised crime and terrorism.
The delegations also discussed the role of policemen in confronting modern security threats, combating violent crimes and law enforcement.
On the sidelines of the Interpol General Assembly, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid met Lebanese Interior Minister Brigadier General Marwan Sharbal, Italian Interior Minister Anna Maria Cancellieri and French Interior Minister Manuel Valls and discussed the agenda of the general assembly as well as bilateral security cooperation.
