The Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Khalifa Al Dhahrani met with the Secretary General of the National Free Thought Society, Layla Rajab at his office, in presence of the society’s members, Mohammed Al Jabal, and Abdul Amir Al Sitrawi.
From the Council of Representatives’ side, the Head of the parliamentary services committee, MP Abbas Al Madhi, and the Advisor Dr. Saleh Al Ghaith, discussed a draft law with amendment of the third article of the law no. (40) for the year 2006 to amend some of the provisions of the Social Insurance Law promulgated by Legislative Decree No. 24 of the year 1976.
Al Dhahrani praised all the sincere efforts and the national programmes set up by the political and social activities to preserve the democratic achievements and support the reform project. He said that political societies and the national and religious figures have a great role and bear a historic and national responsibility in supporting security, stability and combating all inciting ideas, and sectarian trends which aim at sedition, being outlaws and harming homeland and its citizens.
Al Dhahrani stressed that Law is a commitment for all either individuals or institutions, and that the application of law articles is an internal issue and an ultimate Bahraini decision related to the sovereignty and independence of the Kingdom of Bahrain, highlighting the rejection of any interference in the internal affairs. He also announced the rejection of any imposition of double measures in relation to the decisions made in Bahrain, and the contents of its constitution and legislation, and what has been approved by its decent people.
