Ma’atam Khateeb spreads hatred through sermons

Northern Governorate Public Prosecution Head Nawaf Al Awadi said that a community house (ma’tam) orator (khateeb) from Bani Jamra village was questioned after being arrested by the police for inciting hatred against a group of people in his speech.
This act was considered harmful to public safety and instigating tension and anger among the people. The public prosecution had listened to a recorded script of the orator’s speech and confronted him and charged him with the instigation of hatred as mentioned earlier. Moreover, the accused was placed in custody as part of the ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, the public prosecution expressed its full respect for religious scholars and their role related to awareness and guidance of people. However, it indicated that some had deviated from such a role and utilized such religious venues for political purposes.
