The General Director of Central Governorate Police confirmed that arsonists torched the Hyundai warehouse in Sitra on Wednesday morning.
According to an estimate thecars were worth BD 470000, however, there was no word from the owning company about the exact damage.
He said that at around 2:55am, the Sitra Police Station received a report that members of a criminal gang had broken into the warehouse and had thrown petrol bombs at the vehicles inside. The police arrived at the scene with a civil defense team. They found two Asian guards tied up and blindfolded inside the warehouse. The guards told police that they had been attacked by the arsonists and were then moved inside the facility.
Total 59 vehicles were damaged in the fire and petrol tanks and petrol bombs were found at the scene. The General Director said that a forensic team was deployed and that the public prosecution had been notified. He stated that the investigation would continue until the suspects are brought to justice. Pictures attached.
