State Minister for Information Affairs, Samira bint Ibrahim bin Rajab, the government’s official Spokesperson, stressed deep-rooted relations between Bahrain and France and the kingdom’s keen interest to cement ties with countries all over the world.
In a statement given during the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH)’s celebration, held at the Municipality Palace in Paris yesterday to mark the federation’s 90th anniversary, she took pride in representing Bahrain, stressing the kingdom’s care for human rights issues.
“The issue of human rights is part of our heritage, faiths and civilization,” she said, underscoring Bahrain’s cooperation with FIDH.
She added Bahrain calls on all objective and neutral human rights organisations and mass media to get updated directly on the true situation in Bahrain and not to be mistaken by defamatory and misleading campaigns waged against the kingdom.
FIDH President Souhir Belhassan was honoured by the Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë during the celebration which was attended by official personalities, representatives of human rights organisations as well as leading figures and members of FIDH.
