Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning signed a cooperation agreement with China to provide the Kingdom of Bahrain with experts and agricultural equipment.
On behalf of the ministry, the agreement was signed by Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Isa Al Khalifa, and on behalf of the Chinese part, it was signed by the Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain, Li Chen.
Shaikh Khalifa Bin Isa Al Khalifa said that the ministry aspires that the cooperation with China in the agriculture and fisheries will be of a great benefit, especially the modern technology in consolidating food security in the Kingdom.
Shaikh Khalifa also discussed with the Chinese Ambassador ways of reinforcing cooperation between Bahraini and Chinese sides in the area of fish farming and investment in the areas of agriculture, especially in light of the directives of the government chaired by HRH the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa for the development and consolidating projects related to food security. Those projects are considered one of the fundamental tributaries of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Both sides discussed ways of cooperation and benefiting from the new used technologies in the agriculture sector without using the soil, which provides amounts of water consumption rates ranging from 80-90%, as well as considering the possibility of the application of that experience in Bahrain.
During the meeting, the Chinese company introduced a presentation which included the technology it uses in fish farming and agricultural investment.
The agreement comprises bringing four experts from the Republic of China in the areas of growing vegetables and animal husbandry, and two experts in the field of fish diseases.
It is worth mentioning that this is the fourth phase of the cooperation between the two countries, extending for two years, knowing that the Republic of China will bear all the costs of experts.
