Electricity and Water Authority, CEO, Shaikh Nawaf Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, said that since the launch of the reform project of HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and HM’s concern with the infrastructure projects, Electricity and Water Authority has undertaken the responsibility to continuously develop and modernize the basic infrastructure to provide high quality services.
Shaikh Nawaf also said that the authority aimed at ensuring excellence and pioneering in its services, to achieve the subscribers’ satisfaction concerning the staff at the authority for the subscriber is considered the first and basic partner of the authority.
In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Shaikh Nawaf stated that marking the National Day and the 13th Anniversary of HM the King’s Accession to the Throne, the authority witnessed during the last ten years a great quantum leap in the accelerating demand for electricity and water services, as a reflection of the witnessed progress and development in all development and civilized areas.
The CEO also stated that there was a close relation between accomplishing those achievements and the unlimited and kind support from HM the King through all the stages of the National Action to meet the needs of the prosperous present and the bright future.
Electricity and Water Authority CEO said that what the authority has achieved and clearly witnessed through its prominent achievements comes within clear objectives, a future vision and a strategic planning for a future commensurate with its changes with modern basic constants towards renewable energy resources to meet the increasing request on these two services in the country from all housing, industrial and trade sectors.
“The authority is maintaining the implementation of the various projects, programmes and development plans through the expansion in the production of electricity and water by increasing the production plants which meet the accelerating demand for electricity and water services, that needs the establishment of new plants and strengthening the the transmission and distribution grids to raise the reliability of the service,” the CEO, said.
“The total production of electricity in 2002 was 1629 mw, but during the past years, the authority could accomplish a prominent progress resulting from the reform project of HM the King, where the total production of electricity for 2012 reached 4001 mw with an increase of 60%. As for the water, its production was 70 million gallons in 2002, but it reached 186 million gallons with an increase of 57% this year 2012,” he added.
“The reform project of HM the King is considered a road map and a basic foundation for the plans of the authority, urging us to provide more efforts to increase the production capacity of the electricity and water, where Bahrain will be one of the advanced countries in providing energy with high quality,” Shaikh Nawaf, added.
