The National Action Charter Society and the Federation of Expatriate Associations (BFEA) addressed a joint press conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and highlighted the current situation in Bahrain.
They urged a safe environment for citizens and residents, calling upon expatriate communities to project of the true facts about the situation in Bahrain and serve ambassadors for the Kingdom in their respective countries.
BFEA Secretary General Betsy B Mathieson said that several investors had suffered losses due the unrest hitting Bahrain.
Citing updated figures, she said the investments owned by the expatriate communities had topped BD60 million, expressing the hope that other expatriate investors would not sustain losses.
She urged the Parliament to pass legislations ensuring the protection of expatriates’ investments in Bahrain.
She also highlighted the attacks targeting foreigners, leaving some of them dead, which affected expatriate communities’ confidence.
She stressed the necessity to put an end to the acts of violence for Bahrain to be able to attract foreign investments and capitals and revitalized the national economy.
“If violence does not stop, Bahrain will suffer massive economic losses and the business community will lose confidence”, she said, commending the wise leadership and His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa for their efforts to attract foreign investments and revitalize the national economy.
