The preparatory session chaired by the Foreign Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid, on Sunday submitted to the two-day GCC summit a number of recommendations which stress the need to implement the GCC decisions regarding the provisions stipulated in the 3rd article of the economic agreement.
Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa chaired a key meeting to draw up the agenda of the 33rd GCC Summit, opens on Monday at Al-Sakhir Palace.
The session discussed the decisions which will be submitted to the summit, particularly issues relating to the GCC in the economic field.
These include the common market, customs union and the ongoing negotiations between the GCC and other states and economic groups.
The delegations spotlighted other key issues relating the security and military affairs, the environment, education and health, in addition to current regional developments.
Addressing the session, Shaikh Khalid welcomed Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi, who attended the Joint GCC-Yemen joint ministerial meeting, hailing fraternal relations bonding GCC member states and the Republic of Yemen.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the people of Bahrain marking the Kingdom’s National Day.
Addressing the session, he paid tribute to the GCC foreign ministers for their fraternal stances in support of Yemen.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud also welcomed Dr. Al-Qirbi, hailing the steps undertaken by the Yemeni president to protect his country’s security and stability.
Prince Al-Faisal reiterated the firm stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of Yemen.
The recommendations also affirm the necessity of fostering the spirit of GCC citizenship among Gulf nationals.
The ministers discussed a number of current regional and international issues.
