Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, described Iran as a real and grave threat to the entire GCC region.
Responding to questions at the close of the two-day GCC 33rd Supreme Council Session in Manama Shaikh Khalid said that GCC have had always respected the Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear use.
“We do respect the sovereign right of Iran but the nuclear hazards from the nuclear waste are immediate concerns for the entire GCC region. When the technical reports and nuclear watchdog warn about the nuclear hazards to the neighbourhood of Iran it serves as an eye opener for the GCC as they are immediate neighbours of Iran,” Shaikh Khalid explained.
He said that GCC would continue to talk through the available channels so that Iran can address the concerns of the GCC States.
“Threat from Iran remains a major concern for the GCC and we will continue to voice our concerns unless the issues are addressed properly and objectively,” he added.
