Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa on Tuesday said that the brotherly State of Kuwait would host friends of Syria conference at end January aimed at raising funds for the Syrian refugees and displaced people.
Shaikh Khalid, who was joined by the GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani at the end of the two day Manama Summit, described the GCC stance as an integral part of the harmonious Arab and international stance with regard to Syria.
Referring to Syrian crisis and how the GCC countries were responding to the needs of the refugees and hundreds of thousands misplaced by this ongoing conflict, he referred to the call of Kuwaiti Amir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah to host a high profile meeting by end of next month in Kuwait to provide humanitarian support to the Syrian people, in line with the directives of UN Chief Ban Ki-moon during his recent visit to Kuwait.
GCC Secretary General reaffirmed support to Syria and said the GCC countries have been in constant discussions on day to day developments in Syria and working very closely to extend maximum help possible to the people of Syria who have been hit hard by the ongoing conflict.
