Team Bahrain head to the Dubai Autodrome in search of points to propel them further up the table in search of individual and team title honours with Raed Raffii qualifying in 5th and Mohammed Mattar 11th for Round 5 today.
Mohammed Mattar and Raed Raffii performed admirably in Rounds 3 and 4 at the Yas Marina but want to improve the results they gained in Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Mattar just missed out on a podium position in Round 3, finishing fourth, while in Round 4, he finished a respectable sixth. Raed Raffii, replacing his brother Faisal for the Yas Marina leg of the series, finished a credible sixth and seventh.
Speaking after a qualifying 5th on the grid for Round 5, Raed Raffii is hoping to help Mattar maintain the pressure in the Team title to give success to Team Bahrain.
“I firmly believe the Team Title is within our grasp this season. We need to produce a couple of solid performances to put pressure on Al Nabooda and Saudi Falcons. When a team feels the pressure, then anything is possible,” Raffii said.
“I was unlucky not to finish in a podium position in Round 3, as Ashkanani just beat me to the chequered flag, while I was disappointed not finish the weekend off well in Round 4. But hopefully the Autodrome circuit will be more forgiving than the Yas, and we will be able to maintain speed for a lot longer,” Mattar said.
“I hope to accumulate enough points to take me higher in the championship table, while also maintaining pressure on Al Nabooda Racing and Saudi Falcons in the Team title category,” Mattar, added.
With only 26 points separating the top three teams in the Team title category, Team Bahrain will be looking to pile on the pressure on the front-runners at the Dubai Autodrome before the series heads into the winter break.
