The Public Prosecution organized a lecture on the investigation of torture allegations and cruelty in accordance with the Istanbul’s protocols, as part of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) implementation of reforms.
The lecture was delivered by Moroccan Advisor Dr. Abdulsalam Bouhoush and focused on the most important principles set by the Convention Against Torture and Istanbul’s Protocol, including the necessary procedures when investigating torture allegations. The lecturer also discussed the scientific and practical elements that help in studying the facts of the case.
The lecture had witnessed a great deal of participation and enthusiasm by members of the Public Prosecution. “The initiative reflects the drive of the Public Prosecution to ensure the procedures are in conformity with the provisions of the international covenants on investigating torture allegations”, Chief Prosecutor Nawaf Hamza said.
