Chairman of the Royal Charity Organization Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that Bahrain had become the first country to establish a developmental project in the Republic of Somalia. Bahrain is establishing a hospital in Mogadishu.
He added that Bahrain is also working on building a teachers’ institute, and digging 10 wells around the country and providing 1000 surgical operations, in cooperation with the Bahrain Ophthalmology Centre, in addition to sending several urgent aid shipments, to the people of Somalia.
He was speaking as His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Honorary President of the Royal Charity Organization, received at Al-Sakhir Palace RCO board of trustees members led by Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and a group of Bahraini mothers and orphans, who thanked HM the King for his constant support and care to ensure top services for needy people.
HM the King praised the RCO work, led by HH Shaikh Nasser and the tremendous efforts made by the organization’s affiliates, in developing charity, humanitarian and development work, in the Kingdom, in addition to helping other countries and peoples in need.
HM the King pointed out RCO’s care for orphans, by providing them a variety of educational services and programmes to ensure their financial and emotional relief and ensure them a brighter future to serve Bahrain and its people.
HM the King hailed Bahrain’s family spirit and history, stressing resolve to provide the best for the people of Bahrain.
He expressed good wishes to the RCO affiliates to achieve the organization’s noble humanitarian work, and develop its services and project.
HM directed to focus the efforts on the quality of educational, social and financial support, services, saying that he is looking forward towards achieving what is best for Bahraini orphans to serve their country.
Shaikh Nasser then delivered a speech, thanking HM the King for supporting the RCO as well as his keen interest in developing services.
He congratulated HM for being chosen as the 2012 Humanitarian personality of the Year, acknowledging his key role in supporting the needy all over the world as well as his charity contributions to help friendly countries, and people in dire need. He expressed pride for being part of providing relief to the needy through an excellent strategic and administrative approach that was praised by the Arab League Forum, which agreed to benefit from Bahrain’s successful experience, in providing relief to damaged countries.
HH Shaikh Nasser added that RCO has been able to make numerous outstanding achievements, locally and internationally, thanks to HM the King’s care. He pointed out, that around 10,000 orphans, and widows, have been supported financially, socially and medically, in addition to educational support.
He also said, that establishing the National Center for professional Training, is ongoing, which will serve Bahraini youth, adding that the RCO has provided humanitarian relief to several families, in addition to supporting widows, orphans and people with special needs during the occasions of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha.
Shaikh Nasser pointed out the RCO reputation, saying that Bahrain was the first country to support Gaza, during the war and was the first to establish a series of developmental projects there. He said that Bahrain has opened its Public Library in Al Fakhoora School in addition to a string of other projects, including Bahrain’s Health Center in Khan Younis, Bahrain’s School in Gaza and a factory for artificial parts to extend a lifeline to mentally and physically disabled, in addition to other projects.
HH said that the RCO has provided a series of humanitarian relief for Syrian refugees, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Turkey.
HH said that Bahrain Scientific complex for Syrian refugees in Al Zataari Camp in Jordan has been established in addition to signing an agreement to establish Bahrain’s housing project which includes 500 prefab residential units.
He also said the RCO is working on establishing a Psychological Counseling Center to Syrian children in Al Zataari Camp in Jordan in addition to contributing in establishing a field hospital for the Syrian refugees in Turkey.
HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that Bahrain’s relief gains more respect and appreciation from international organization due to senior RCO official’s presence in damaged areas to provide humanitarian relief and follow up the progress of developmental projects there.
Later on, student Hanadi Rasheed Al Enizi recited a poem dedicated to HM the King.
Then, HH Shaikh Nasser presented HM the King with a commemorative gift in recognition of his efforts and support.
