The cabinet on Sunday during its weekly meeting chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at Gudaibiya Palace hailed the royal call to resume the National Consensus Dialogue to tackle political issues and build on previous achievements
The council praised the outcome of the third session of the Arab Summit for Economic and Social Development, held recently in Riyadh.
The summit hailed the initiative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to support the private sector by launching a joint Arab bourse and hosting its headquarters in Bahrain.
The cabinet lauded the positive role played by the expatriate communities in the kingdom’s development march, describing “Thank You Bahrain” festival, which was organised by the Federation of Expatriate Associations, as a reflection of solidarity with Bahrain in all circumstances as well as strong ties bonding Bahrain and its people with the expatriate communities.
Then, the council reviewed the economic and traffic repercussions of the trucks tailback on the Bahraini side of King Fahad Causeway.
HRH the Prime Minister directed the Interior Ministry to coordinate with competent authorities to take the necessary measures to ease the trucks movement and prevent any economic or commercial losses.
The cabinet discussed executive procedures to prevent fires in random buildings leased to workers.
After reviewing a memorandum in this regard by the Interior Minister, the ministerial council decided to form a field work team headed by the governor in every governorate to determine the unlicensed buildings which pose a danger in popular neighbourhoods.
The cabinet also instructed to set up a legal technical committee to finalize legislations to regulate leasing private buildings and using them as shared accommodation. It also directed to coordinate with relevant parties to remove unlicensed and dilapidated buildings and forward recommendations to the Ministerial Committee for Services and Infrastructure.
The council decided to set up a committee in charge of supporting Bahrain’s fish reserve and catering to the kingdom’s need for fish. It will be headed by the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister and will take into its membership representatives from the Interior Ministry’s Coastguard General Directorate, the General Directorate of Fisheries and other relevant parties.
The cabinet got assured through a memorandum by the Health Minister that all medications in Bahrain are genuine and there are no fake ones in pharmacies or the Health Ministry’s stores as the Health Ministry is continuously monitoring the import and distribution of medicines on government-run and private institutions.
The ministerial council gave the green light for the construction of a new central market in East Riffa, in the Southern Governorate.
It also approved the construction of a comprehensive youth centre that will serve the Central Governorate, particularly the seventh constituency.
The cabinet approved a proposal to increase the capacity of Salmaniya Medical Complex and another proposal regarding periodic medical check-up for citizens.
It also approved a proposal to generalize the implementation of green homes and tasked the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister to coordinate with relevant sides to achieve that.
The ministerial council approved a proposal to appoint well-qualified and highly competent cadres at Bahrain’s embassies abroad and a proposal to complete the infrastructure of housing projects and units and provide them with the needed amenities before they are distributed.
The cabinet approved a draft law to ratify an agreement with the Mexican United States on promoting and protecting investments. It tasked relevant parties to take the necessary legal and constitutional procedures for its referral to the legislative power.
