His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Sakhir Palace the British Ambassador to Bahrain Iain Lindsay who introduced to him the Scottish community in the country.
At the outset of the meeting His Majesty welcomed all the Scottish community members following which he delivered a speech. His Majesty expressed his happiness on meeting with the Scottish community that this relationship dates back to a number of years and which had been built on the basis of love and mutual respect. He also expressed his admiration towards the achievement of the United Kingdom and Scotland specifically that he emphasized could not have been possible without the great efforts of both the Scottish men and women. His Majesty stressed on the need for more Scottish expertise to build a highly developed society that is up to international standards. His Majesty also expressed his happiness during his visit to The Home of Golf in “Saint Andrews”, Scotland. He said he was looking forward to visiting it again and play golf on its vast course. His Majesty extended his congratulations to the Scottish community on the occasion of the birth anniversary of renowned Scottish poet Robert Burns that was held last Friday. His Majesty thanked the Scottish community for the visit and expressed his appreciation for the British ambassador for encouraging such meetings which he said was important and should continue.
For his part the British ambassador extended his thanks and appreciation for His Majesty the King for his kind invite for the Scottish community. He stressed that it was a great honour in meeting His Majesty the King on his birthday. The ambassador also highlighted the deep-rooted and historic relations existing between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom. He said that the Scottish community thanked His Majesty for his warm and generous welcoming for them in Bahrain, indicating that it made them feel part of the local community.
