A ceremony marking the 48th anniversary of the Palestinian Revolution was held today.
The Palestinian Embassy initiated the event in the presence of officials representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations, the Parliament, the Shura Council and Bahrain majlisses.
Arab ambassadors, members of the Arab and Foreign diplomatic corps, foreign expatriate communities, prominent figures and members of the Palestinian community in Bahrain and the Saudi Eastern Province were also present.
Foreign Minister bilateral relations director Dhafer Al-Omran addressed the ceremony, conveying greetings from Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa.
He expressed Bahrain’s congratulations marking the UN vote recognizing Palestine as a non-member state in November 2012.
He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for the Palestinians’ inalienable rights, citing the principled stances of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa in all arenas.
He also stressed the need to reach a just, comprehensive and lasting settlement conducive to the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable Palestinian State with Al-Quds as its capital, in conformity with the UN resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the International Quartet.
Dr. Al-Omrane voiced Bahrain’s deep concerns over the Israeli encroachment on the Jerusalem and galloping Jewish settlement policies to alter its Arab identity.
In this regard, he urged the international community to backed President Mahmoud Abbas in his efforts to advocate his people’s inalienable cause and achieve just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
UN representative Nejib Friji, Chinese Ambassador Lee Chin, Mp Isa Al-Qadhi, Shura Council member Dr. Abdulaziz Abul and Palestinian Ambassador Taha Abdul-Qader addressed the event.
