A bomb went off on Monday at a commercial bank’s ATM in Sanad, Central Governorate Public Prosecution Chief Ali Al-Shewikh said, adding that initial investigations, based on eyewitnesses, revealed that the perpetrator was disguised in a woman’s “abaya” when he placed the explosive device inside the ATM. “Shortly a few minutes after he had left the explosion happened causing material damage,” Al-Shewikh, said.
In another development, a fire gutted completely three car shops and a battery-selling shop on the ground floor of a three-storey building in Sitra.
An initial report by the Civil Defence showed that the blaze was an arson attack.
Investigations are underway to track down the perpetrators of the two terrorist acts, the Central Governorate Public Prosecution Chief affirmed.
