The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), summoned this afternoon the Charge d’Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mehdi Islami and lodged official protest over mischievous statement of Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister.
The Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for regional and GCC affairs, Ambassador Hamad Al-Amer, voiced to the Iranian Charge d’Affaires, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s condemnation of the statements made by Iran’s assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia and the Pacific, Abbas Araghchi, regarding his proposal to include an item pertaining to Bahrain on the agenda for discussion at the upcoming G5+1 meeting in Kazakhstan for discussion of its controversial nuclear dossier.
The Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for regional affairs and the GCC, Ambassador Hamad Al-Amer, delivered to the Iranian Charge d’Affairs, an official protest note from the Foreign Ministry, considering Iran’s manipulations in this matter as a breaching of the rules of diplomacy and amicable relations between countries and a blatant interference in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s internal affairs and a transgression on Bahrain’s sovereignty.
The protest note accentuated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s absolute rejection of such proposal both in detail and its entirety which reflects Iran’s disrespecting of the principles of international law and legitimacy, the United Nations Charter, the OIC Charter and the principles of good neighborliness and leads to increasing tensions and instability under present circumstances in the Arabian Gulf region.
