The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) has extended sincere thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for approving the National Plan to Implement the National Strategy for the Advancement of the Bahraini, praising the Royal continuous support and directives to all the concerned sides to cooperate and coordinate with the SCW in order to put forward the mechanisms needs for translating the strategy into the ground.
This came as Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the SCW, chaired the fifth meeting of the SCW’s fourth session.
Commenting on the meeting, Secretary-General of the SCW Hala Al Ansari stated that the Secretariat-General report on the approval of the National Plan to Implement the National Strategy for the Advancement of the Bahraini Women (2013-2022), including the implementation phase and the operational plan of the SCW.
She added that the session also reviewed the Secretariat-General’s report on the kingdom’s reservations to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the procedures it has taken, in collaboration with the relevant sides, to re-formulate some reservations.
She also said that the meeting discussed the Secretariat-General’s proposals regarding the celebration of the Bahraini Women’s Day 2013, noting that theme will about women’s work in the media field for the aim of highlighting their contributions and shedding light on their roles and achievements in such a key sector.
Another report on the SCW’s Secretariat-General’s proposals regarding the second national conference, held every three years in association with the Bahraini Women’s Union and the Cooperation Committee between the SCW and Women’s Committees, was discussed, Al Ansari added, noting that the theme of the event will focus on what has been achieved so far regarding the activation of the National Model for Incorporating Women’s Needs in Development and its role in integrating the National Plan for the Advancement of the Bahraini Women in the government’s daily work.
