The French Senate led by Jean Bizet, Deputy Chairman of the Friendship Association in charge of Bahrain, member of the French Sustainable Development and Infrastructure Committee lauded the coexistence and tolerance atmosphere characterized of Kingdom of Bahrain, considering Bahrain as a leading Arab example in that regard.
The French Senate affirmed that freedom of religious practice and belief in various religions, and the religious and cultural diversity practiced by Bahrain, made it an open country to all other various civilizations and cultures, and strengthened its position in the global community and between the different religions.
This came during a breakfast hosted by members of the French Senate for the delegation of the Bahraini French Friendship Committee at the Bahraini Council of Representatives, who is currently visiting the French capital, headed by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security at the Council of Representatives, MP Abdul Rahman Bumjeed.
Members of the Friendship Committee stressed that Bahrain along its history, has witnessed several successive humanitarian civilizations, where its main characteristic was tolerance and coexistence among religions, which is considered an immortal humanitarian value.
For his part, member of the Bahraini French Friendship Committee, Dr. Ali Ahmed stressed that Bahrain has succeeded in embracing all the religious components out of its social environment which encourages live decently. He also added that Bahrain contains several places of worship allocated for the Christian and Judaism religions, and other places for worship for different communities and minorities, in addition to the announcement of the largest synod in the Middle East, Bahrain intends to embrace.
Dr. Ahmed pointed out that Bahraini minorities in the Kingdom have a prominent presence in the Shura Council, in the diplomatic missions, and in the civil society institutions, adding that Kingdom of Bahrain ensured freedom of religious practice in the various religions throughout its long history. He also said that Bahrain is appreciating all religions in its society, where they all live together as one family, highlighting that Bahrainis are accustomed to renounce fanaticism, repel calls for hatred and rejection of division, and therefore the country is strong, invincible with the unity of its people and their gathering around their wise leadership.
The delegation also talked about the exerted efforts to rebuild confidence and unity and spread love and brotherhood in the Bahraini society, because of what the relation between the components of the society has gone through due to the tragic events witnessed in 2011, showing optimism of regaining such strong relation back to normal.
