A world sickle cell conference opened in Bahrain under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa.
The three-day global health event, the first of its kind in the Middle East, will run until Thursday (Feb7).
The Health Ministry extended thanks to HRH the Premier for his patronage and directives to host the conference as part of efforts to upgrade therapeutic services for sickle cell patients.
The global conference brings together renowned speakers hailing from fifteen GCC, Arab and foreign countries.
A series of workshops and specialised workshops will be held on the sidelines of the three-day conference.
Civil society institutions concerned with the hereditary blood disease and a number of sickle cell patients are also taking part.
The organizing committee started preparing the conference six months ago to ensure its success and project Bahrain’s health strides.
