Kingdom of Bahrain celebrates a dear occasion for the homeland and its citizens we are all proud of, which is the issuance of the National Charter Action that was unanimously approved by the people of Bahrain on 14 February 2001.
No doubt that the Charter is a great quantum leap in the national action, and an advanced and a distinctive step in the process of political modernization led by His Majesty the King, as well as consolidation of the constitutional institutions in the country to meet the aspirations for a further development and a civilized progress.
Meanwhile, based on the principles and provisions included in the National Charter Action, the amended constitution of Kingdom of Bahrain was issued in February 2002, which was a major breakthrough for the state of constitutional institutions.
The National Charter Action includes principles and provisions related to governance’s objectives and basis; ensuring personal freedoms and equality; freedom of belief; freedom of expression and publication; activity of the civil society; separation between powers and the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary.
