As part of ongoing process on implementing the recommendations of BICI Report with regard to 2011 unrest, the Special Investigative Unit said that it had initiated investigation into 35 deaths related to 2011 unrest.
SIU said that it had also launched inquiries into five cases over the past two months prior to taking required legal action.
“The probe panel has investigated all cases relating to the 2011 unrest,” Special Unit Chief Prosecutor Nawaf Hamza said.
The investigate unit inquired into 35 death cases cited in the report of Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry.
The BICI report left eleven other death cases pending, deeming them out of its legal prerogatives.
“The unit investigated all the deaths, including the unreported cases or the ones posted on the internet”, Hamza said.
Police inquiries have also been launched in the death cases among the security forces and non-Bahrainis.
The Public Prosecution investigative unit has so far referred 20 cases to the courts for legal action.
