Chief Prosecutor Ahmed Mohammed Bucheeri said that the High Criminal Court, chaired by Shaikh Mohammed bin Ali Al Khalifa, issued a 15-year prison sentence against a suspect over charges of possessing and making explosives for terrorist purposes, attempted murder of members of the security forces, setting fire for the sake of posing a threat to people’s lives and property and detonating an explosive device to intimidate and spread panic among secure people.
Details of the incident reveal that the suspect, along with other unknown sides, ambushed policemen by planting an explosive inside a GCC Roundabout-shaped scale model near the Police station in Sitra and then detonated it remotely when the policemen approached for the aim of killing them.
The explosion wounded two policemen the injury of one of them was serious and caused a permanent deformity.
