With rapidly shrinking global businesses, the Bahraini companies in the Information and Telecommunication technologies (ICT) business should dare the existing $64 billion worth of the GCC market, according to an expert.
“Given the market size of Bahrain it is not possible to be complacent but the businesses should grab the huge existing businesses exit across the GCC in ICT business,” Ahmed Alhujairy, CEO, Gulf Future Business, said.
Alhujairy, on the sidelines of a presentation titled Developing Technology Companies and organised by the recently formed Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTEC), said that the Bahraini Cos should showcase their products and services at GITEX 2013, one of the premier ICT events in the region.
“The ICT businesses has been pivotal in developing and reshaping Bahrain’s economy over the past one decade and now the time has come to be part of regional and global businesses,” he said.
Also President of BTECH Ubaydli Ubaydli addressed representatives of main ICT companies in Bahrain about his newborn organization.
“The society intent to provide support needed to develop the products and services of ICT companies. We are also ambitious to build strategic between those companies and education institutions in order to achieve competitive outcomes in this industry,” Ubaydli, said.
“The society will conduct conferences and workshops in addition to making publications to achieve these goals”.
BTECH has been licensed by the Minister of Human Rights and Social Development Dr. Fatima Al Bloushi in December last year, and during its first general assembly meeting the board of directors has been elected as Ubaydli Ubaydli President, Jameel Al Najjar Vice President, Ahmed Al Hujairy, Emad AlSindi, Abbas Ali, Abdulrahman Alsindi, Fatima Matar, Ahmed Abdulla, Mr. Yasser Al Hujairy, and Hamad Abdulaal as members.

GITEX to be held in Dubai next October which described by Al Hujairy as the largest of its kind and said Bahrain pavilion has always formed on the concept of joint partnership between the public and private sector.
The exhibition offers an exposure to the market of information technology which could increase business growth for participants. “The eligible companies participating in Bahrain pavilion at GITEX will be 80% supported by Tamkeen,” Al Hujairy added.
More than 3500 regional and international companies are expected to participate at GITEX that would be an ideal environment to network with experts from 40 countries around the world.
