Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) Director General, Dr. Raed Mohammed BenShams and Senior Advisor Head of Research and Consultancies, Dr. Sofiane Al Sahraoui, took part in the International Institute of Administrative Science (IIAS) meetings held jointly with the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) in Brussels earlier this month.
During the meeting BIPA was appointed a member of the committee to review IASIA’s mission, and a member of the task force to review its Governance structure including membership of its Board of Management and working groups.
BenShams expressed his pride in Bahrain’s active participation and representation at the IASIA meetings held recently, adding that BIPA’s appointment to these two international committees is evidence of the important role Bahrain plays in supporting both international organizations. He also noted that BIPA will put forward its candidacy for a position on the Council of Administration and will run for a VP position in 2016.
“We truly believe that BIPA’s appointment as a member of these international committees, as well as organizing the 29th Global Congress for Public Administration will facilitate Bahrain’s membership of the Leadership Roundtable of the IIAS. The membership will also further enrich our expertise in training our local public administrators in Public Administration Sciences, advance the methods used to improve Public Administration and innovation in public administration leadership, as well as allowing BIPA access to the latest theories and practices in Public Administration,” BenShams added.
The Board of Management of IIAS also approved a proposal made by the Bahraini delegation during the meeting to form a group to oversee Public Administration institutes in the Middle East. The details of the organization will be discussed during the 29th Global Congress for Public Administration, held in Bahrain this coming June. This Congress will host over 600 participants including consultants, academics and experts in national, regional and international Public Administration as well as ministers and presidents in Public Service, and Government officials from all over the world.
Registration is still open for all Public Administration practitioners , academics and researchers to participate in and attend the Congress which will be held between June 1st and 6th under the main theme: “Public Administration Futures: Professionalism and Leadership.”
