The Minister of Finance, who is also the Minister In-charge of Oil and Gas Affairs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in the 1st GCC Petroleum Media Forum inaugurated by the Kuwaiti Minister of Petroleum, engineer Hani Abdulaziz Hussein, on behalf of the Forum’s patron the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Jabir Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The meeting was attended by a number of GCC Petroleum Ministers and experts as well as the secretary-general of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC).
The Minister toured the Expo associated with the Forum – also inaugurated by the Kuwaiti Minister of Oil after conclusion of the inauguration ceremony, in which a number of Kuwaiti and GCC bodies and firms partook, including the Gulf Petro-chemical Industrial Company (GPIC), the Bahrain National Gas Company (Bangas) – and visited the special pavilion of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA).
The Forum’s first day program included two sessions. The first session was a discussion of the role of the petroleum media apparatuses in the GCC countries in accomplishing the petroleum media strategy. The second session discussed investing electronic development in showcasing the role of oil revenues in socio-economic development and preservation of the environment in the GCC countries
