The President of Central Informatics Organization (CIO), Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Aamer announced that the official adoption of the GCC States Identity Card kicks off Mid-March in all transactions and their related uses at governmental and non-governmental organizations in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“The launch of such important issue comes from the keenness of Their Majesties, and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC states in reinforcing the integration between them and contributing in alleviating the efforts and time on their citizens during their travel in the GCC states, or when they need to achieve their own private matters either in public or private sectors,” Mohammed Al Aamer said.
Al Aamer also highlighted that Bahrain has taken the initiative to activate the adoption system of the ID in its transactions, and apply it on the ground commensurate with the approach of the Kingdom towards the E-Government, and providing more services, including implementing the electronic transactions.
In this regard, the issued law No. 2 for the year 2013, which was ratified by HM the King, and adopted by the Cabinet, calling the competent bodies to implement and enforce it in their transactions.
This law also supported the application of such decision, and was considered an activation of the decision issued by the GCC Supreme Council in its 32nd session, held in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the period from 19 – 20 December 2011, concerning the adoption of the ID for Gulf citizens in the internal transactions.
Al Aamer called on all public and private sectors organizations to quickly adapt their private electronic systems and programmes to provide services to ID beneficiaries through logging on with their personal number or GCC identification number as soon as possible.
Al-Aamer pointed out that the (CIO) has addressed public and private sectors institutions in regard of the decision to put it into force starting from the date of publication and in accordance with the ministerial decree issued by the Bahraini Cabinet, stressing the need to facilitate the procedures for Gulf citizens, as well as for residents living on the grounds of Bahrain.
