The participants of the ongoing discussions among the various political, government and societies’ representatives have discussed an initial draft for the agenda for the upcoming National Agenda in the Kingdom of Bahrain, it was officially announced.
During the 6th session of the continuation of the National Consensus Dialogue in the political theme, held on Wednesday 6th March, the moderators submitted the initial draft agenda for revision by all participants.
The original proposed draft was met with varying views by a number of participants. Hence, a mini-session, which included a representative of each participating group and the moderators, was held to focus on the agenda. The mini-session elected to work with the formation of a team comprising two representatives from each group to draft points for revision by the participants the session that will be held on Wednesday 13th March. It was also decided that the moderators would include in the agenda a document presented by independents from the Legislative Authority.
The Spokesperson for the National Consensus Dialogue, Isa AbdulRahman, confirmed that, at the beginning of the session, the two moderators presented the draft of the agenda, based on documents presented by all participants; the coalition societies, the six societies, the Government and independents from the Legislative Authority.
Isa AbdulRahman stated that there were differing views from participants regarding the draft. Some participants requested to include other key points and topics that are based on presented documents, while others expressed the view that the proposed agenda is comprehensive and includes all matters that require discussion.
The suggestion by a number of participants to hold a mini-session to include a representative from each group, together with the moderators, was presented with the aim of drafting the agenda of the Dialogue. Subsequently, it was decided a team should be formed to work through the drafting of an agenda. A meeting was held by the team to discuss various points.
Following on from the mini-session, AbdulRahman said that views were exchanged at the Dialogue table. A decision was made for the team of two representatives from each participating group to hold a meeting on Sunday, 10th March to review the outstanding points.
The results of the team’s deliberations will be presented to all participants in the next session to be held on Wednesday, 13th March. AbdulRahman said that the participants reached consensus for the moderators to include in the agenda a document presented by independents from the Legislative Authority.
The session was attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa; Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi; Khalid Mohammed Al Qattan; Ahmed Sanad Al BinAli; Latifa Al Gaoud; Dalal Alzayed; Majeed Milad Ahmed and Hafidh Ali.
The Ministerial panel consists of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs; Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Noaimi, Minister of Education and Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, Minister of Works.
Independents from the legislature include MP Ahmed Al Saati; MP Latifa Al Gaoud; MP Sawsan Taqawi; Shura Member Khalid Al Masqati; Shura Member Dalal Al-Zayed and Shura Member AbdulAziz Abul.
Ten societies’ coalition represented by Ahmad Juma; Isa AbuAlFateh; AbdulRahman AbdulSalam; Khalid Al Qattan; Hamad Al-Noaimi; Abdulla Al Huwaihi; AbdulRahman Al Baker and Ahmad Al BinAli.
Six societies’ representatives were Sayed Jameel Khadim; Majeed Milad; Hassan Al-Aali; Mohammed Hajji Al-Shehabi; Abdulnabi Salman; Hameed Al-Mulla; Dr. Muneera Fakhro and Hafedh Ali. The session moderators were Khalid Ajaji and Dr. Abdulla Taleb.
